Hi all,

 

It looks like the gearbox on my 1.9TDi is on the way out. The gear stick started to vibrate when in 3rd last week, but this morning it was making nasty mechanical noises when coasting in 2nd and 4th. Has anyone had a similar problem? Can anyone recommend a supplier for refurb or used gearboxes in the Midlands, please? Also, to help in the search for a replacement, does anyone know the part number for the manual 5-speed gearbox in the 1.9 diesel, please? 

 

I should say she's done 185k miles now, so I can't really complain.

Missed my mileage off

Try a change of oil.  Use fully synthetic.  You never know, it just might work and it's the cheapest option.  Gearboxes are very robust.
