First impressions of our Drive model.

Does it have the useful underseat drawer which my 2014 elegance has?

If not can they be retrofitted?

I wonder if the lease company would even know it was missing from mine....? They didn't notice that I kept the brolly from my Superb a few years ago, now in the boot of my wifes car, or the optional rubber boot floor from my first Yeti, which will soon move to the new third one!

As far as I know my new Yeti is to be built w/c 8th May, but I can't take delivery until the 1st July after current car lease ends.

  • Why is the readout in Kph a problem - you have a big round MPH speedometer right in front of you!

  • I believe the settings will then give you the option to choose KPH or MPH

Regrettably, mine does not have under-seat drawers.

Under the driver's seat, there is a little slot for (for example) an emergency reflective coat.

Under the passenger's seat, there is a small compartment containing an umbrella.

Nice touches, but nowhere near as useful as under-seat drawers.

I, too would like to know if they can be retrofitted.

Certainly can be on pre-umbrella models. Think there is a thread in the Technical section.

Just a comment on the 'read small close numbers, of Expatman's post.

I have had my Yeti recoded so mph shows on the Maxdot...the digits are big, clear and easy to read. They are a much larger font size than the default kph read-out.

Okay, I can see the advantage, do you 'lose' any other info on the maxi dot while the MPG is displayed in large type? Looks like analogue style dashboard instruments will soon be replaced by large screens on which you can choose what info you want displayed anyway.

Happy to add my comments too, but firstly I must thank Expatman for his help and advice in my attempt to secure 16" wheels on an SE Drive.  However, mine was already built and in the UK at the time of order and hence came with 17" wheels.  Despite the 17" wheels, the ride is both quieter and smoother than my Roomster and the driving position is noticeably more comfortable.

I, too wanted to get hold of a classic Yeti before it was replaced by a larger SUV clone.  I chose the spare wheel option, which as Expatman states does take up a lot of boot space.  However, I still have the compressor and goo can from my Roomster if I ever need more space.  I miss the under-seat storage and glass roof of the Roomster and there is less rear-seat knee room in the Yeti, but these are minor details compared with the overall Yeti experience.

The 1.2 engine and DSG seem even quieter and smoother than my Roomster and although the stop/start system works well, I generally switch it off.  I found the auto-dimming rear view mirror something of a revelation; until now, I never thought I needed one!

I have owned two Roomsters and until now, considered them by some margin the best cars I have ever owned.  That accolade now goes to my Yeti.

Sorry that you were too late to get the 16" wheels but pleased that you are enjoying your new Yeti. I am not sure if Skoda have refined the ride since my 2012 model but the new one has a noticeably more comfortable ride, both cars have Goodyear Efficientgrip tyres so really is  a like-for-like comparison. If you need to improve rear legroom don't forget you can slide the rear seats back an inch or so.

The accompanying pic might help. Reading through the posts, I rcognise that some people don't see the point of this. Fair enough, but it helps me and I am grateful to the Briskoda brother who coded it for me.

Is it easy to switch back to the standard display?

Looks great to me, I find the Kph annoying. We have the digital readout in the Fabia and it's really good.

Yes, Just tick a box on the MFD options.

And about 10 other displays by rolling the right roller wheel.

Quick update on Yeti 1.2 DSG SEL Drive. Now done 1,000 miles and used Skoda "free" fuel card for first time. Based on brim-to-brim measurements have averaged 43.8 MPG since new and last fill was 44.5 MPG. Generally I have found that MPG improves over first few thousand miles - at least it did with my last Yeti - so have great hopes I could get to 45 MPG. That I think would be excellent for a brick like SUV!

Otherwise everything has been good, definitely quieter than last Yeti, though I don't know why, and also ride is smoother, again don't know why! My wife commented on both aspects and for her to comment on any aspect of a cars performance is highly unusual to say the least. Getting used to reversing camera and now find it invaluable, still find stop-start disturbing and so switch it off when it annoys me!

Major improvement is the variable boot floor as with the floor "hooked up" we can carry our suitcases vertically and it is amazing how much extra space that releases. Nothing inside now on trips away as everything fits in the boot with space to spare.

Whats the free fuel card? How do you get one?

My experience is that new tyres gives a more plush ride .......... add a new windscreen and the new car feel is back.

If you ordered a new Yeti in January Skoda was offering a free fuel card loaded with £500.

That's what I thought but old Yeti had almost new Goodyear Efficientgrips and new one has exactly the same tyres. Not sure how the windshield affects ride or refinement?

I heard some didn't but instead, the money was knocked off... That might be hearsay though as I didn't first-hand experience it.

Really annoying. I ordered provisionally an SEL Drive in Feb, so missed out on this. Tried to confirm as a L&K in March as on,y £500 more and missed last orders, and now missed the £500 back if I ordered in April.

I am getting an extra £500 contribution from Skoda though apparently as now will be £1500.

Yeah, we got the free £500 fuel card due to ordering in January. It's a simple preloaded Mastercard and can be used at any service station, but not pay at pump.

Just returned from a trip to the Peak district with my good wife,  and we've now clocked circa1600 miles with an average of 46.2mpg. Considering the very hilly terrain round that area, including Winnats Pass near Castleton, that's a very acceptable fuel consumption, and we continue to be absolutely blown away with our super comfy Yeti.

Next trip to Somerset, so we will continue to update.

Our only glitch was that the Oil Service Due now! warning came up on the maxidot. We've been assured that this is due to something not having been set properly on the service settings pre delivery. It has no issues, and plenty of nice clean oil, so can wait until such time as I am next near our dealer.

That is a very good mpg.  I've had my Yeti just a month now and just love it to bits, done just over 500 miles and its averaging 40mpg but all the driving has been local with no long trips which I feel is very acceptable considering the weight.

I had one little mishap putting my golf clubs in the boot I put a very small chip in the sill paint work which I had to touch up. So to prevent it happening again I found this sill protector on Fleabay for £34.

Hi Graham

That's a great idea. Shame about the chip, but one of those things.  We bought a boot liner also off Fleabay, and it has a flap which folds down to cover that area. My wife is constantly telling me not to stick my size 12's onto the rear bumper to change from walking boots /wellies, back to ordinary shoes after we've walked our dog. It's a bad habit...... one I must break! :oI also removed some of the polystyrene moulding from around the spare wheel which has provided useful space.

Your mpg is reasonable given that it's round town. We're lucky in that most places we go to are just off big dual carriageways or very long distance. Our next trip is to Somerset, then on to Dorset, Devon, Gloucestershire and home. We'll see how that sits on the figures.

To update this. Well we set off from Newcastle last week, down to the West Midlands, then on to Taunton for an overnight stop. Next day to Bridport in Dorset, and then across to Exeter. Back up on Sunday via Gloucester.

Fuel consumption for the trip 50.1mpg. I've got a picture of the maxidot with that average showing but can't see how to post it.

Driving around with a big smile on that figure :D

Got it. large.IMG_20170515_150619-800x600.jpg.cf0223c4cd0b2ecd4dd1bc61a457ff67.jpg

I see that's the consumption for one trip on number 1 data what's your overall consumption like for overall average consumption on number 2 data?
