Fabia Hatch Sel 110ps Dsg on order

Featured Replies

  • After 39 years of driving and 20 of these  have been Skoda's I am buying my first automatic.I change cars fairly frequently and will have had my present Sel estate 15 months by the time my new car comes.Ive ordered a SEL 110 ps dsg Hatch in Race blue apart from a spare wheel it is a standard car. Build week 21 now down week 19 .Hoping it might move forward again.
  • I test drove 65 plate se and was very impressed with how smooth the car changed gear, and the economy seemed fairly good and on a par with my car 43 mpg average. Most of my driving is  mostly short journeys in heavy traffic and having a bad knee this becoming a rear pain hence the change.
  • Do you dsg owners think I will be able to get the same sort of economy with the dsg ? as I intend to keep this one for 3 years which will be a miracle if I can.
  • Ps I have set of Thule edge wingbars for sale in the parts forum .These are really quiet but will not fit the Hatch if anybody is interested .

12,000 miles into ownership and the drivetrain just gets better. The 1.2 TSI/DSG is a cracking combination. My last three fill ups have shown 40.1, 40.6 and 43.6mpg respectively. I do not drive for economy and the little motor certainly likes to rev. As I have said before....it reminds me so much of my old Mk1 vRS, but without the diesel clatter and grunt.  Run it in for 10k miles or so and drive it like you stole it....life is to enjoy.  Oh, and in case you're thinking that this all sounds fine for a short-term car, I intend to keep it for 5 years or so.

Thanks Alltorque I used drive my Citigo like I stole it so it should be fun then with an extra 35 ps then . I intend to keep this one for 3 years so I ordered in Race blue  my favourite colour on a Fabia.

When I placed the order initial build week was 21 now down to 17  I may get the car 2nd week in May if I'm lucky. :)

Mick, congratulations on your choice of motor. I have one also and I totally agree with alltorque. Lovely cars with loads and loads of power. My fuel economy is a bit different to you guys, I'm getting between 46-54mpg all the time (not much heavy traffic use) and on a run I can get near to 59mpg. I don't tend to drive with economy in mind either although I rarely floor it or drive in a very spirited manor these days. I too have a dodgy knee and find the DSG fantastic at relieving the load of gear changes. In the book you may notice the DSG gives a smidgen more miles per gallon than the manual version. This is largely due to the fact it's very good at keeping you in the right gear for the conditions you encounter and during acceleration your engine revs remain near to or at maximum torque (1400rpm), so in 'D' it is heavily tilted towards giving good fuel economy. If you want very fast take offs and really really good acceleration I recommend using 'S' mode (sport) which is totally amazing and lets the engine revs rise substantially more than in 'D'. Have fun when you get it. And yes, they are a keeper in my book, and I'll be doing just that.

I have exactly the same model and colour and love it. Just done a 750 mile round trip in it and it was a pleasure to drive;motorway and Isle of Arran. It accelerates really well and handling is excellent on winding roads. I've averaged 47.8 mpg according to the maxidot display. Best auto car I've ever owned and wouldn't hesitate to own another. It just needs a really good wash again now!

Thanks Estateman  it will be interesting to find out what my economy will be like ,but i'm willing to trade off some that for the comfort factor or reduction in pain if needed. I am really looking forward to getting the car ,might even read the handbook  on the dsg .:)

I did 600 plus miles in my present Fabia in a weekend and a really heavy traffic week at work . That caused my knee to flare up again so the decision was made to swap . Just hoped to get a ready built car but that didn't happen so ordered the Race blue one . I reckon I could have the car by mid May  just in time for summer :)

I have a 1.2 DSG Estate and over the last 2 years have done about 20,000

Have to admit I normally drive to the Max permitted and use all the punch that the 1.2 engine has

Overall I have averaged 43 mpg, on a long run I have got over 45 mpg

Even if the dreaded Manchester traffic I typically get between 37 and 38 mpg.

I check the mpg by topping up the tank and noting the mileage I find the Maxi Dot over optimistic

Yes I am one of those sad people who keep records :-)

Personally I would NEVER go back to a manual

Picking up my Fabia Dsg  Tomorrow my left leg has been looking forward to this for 10 weeks. My first automatic so I'm really looking forward to driving it I won't get much sleep tonight .Once home I've got a host of extras to fit to it .

Happy times eh!!...Good luck for tomorrow.

We've had 3 Fabias all dsg (wife's cars) The performance and economy is always better than the equivalent manual version. My current and previous car are also dsg and are very enjoyable to drive on the road and on the track.

Also her car is Race Blue and I agree its the nicest Fabia colour.

Picked up this beauty today  love the Race blue color  .Ive got to get used to the  Dsg but so far so good .Economy  wasn't  brilliant showing 42 on the maxidot for a 50 mile trip but it's not done a 100 mile yet so hopefully that will improve as she frees up a bit .Fitted all the extras ,Wind deflectors ,sill guards boot sill cover , mud flaps .Just the dash cams to do now . All in all a good day. :)
