New Cheetah C550 Speed Camera Detector

Featured Replies

Just bought a Cheetah C550 Speed Camera Detector to supplement the Admundsen Satnav unit in our new Drive 1.2 DSG model.  https://www.speedcamerasuk.com/cheetah-c550.htm

Although we certainly aren't in the habit of deliberately breaking speed limits, we do like to know where unknown ones are, especially mobile units, when we're out of our home area, and like all drivers we occasionally drift over the set limits by a little without realising it. The Yeti is so smooth, it's deceptive in this respect.

We've now covered around 400 miles with this unit fitted, and are extremely pleased with it. It's GPS driven, and with a one off subscription of £34.99 direct from the supplier,  carries lifetime updates and no need for expensive data plans.

It's been fearsomely accurate, and has picked up on three mobile locations near here that we certainly weren't aware of.

Very pleased with it, it's quick to mount/dismount and highly visible even in bright sunlight, with the added advantage of a digital speed readout at all times to compare with your own speedo.

Good looking, small unit. Thumbs up from us. With all the new cameras around, we value our licences.

@FurryFriend How is the Cheetah C550 holding up  I have a Origin B2 radar, laser (10 years old) detector which was taken over by road angel but as from September last year, (without telling anyone who is still in the subscription period) road angel have pulled the plug & basically turned of all the future updates for any legacy product (origin B2 & Pogo Alert) so I'm now forced to buy a different product.

The main reason why I wont buy a road angel Gem from them is because of how they have just pulled the plug on the existing service for legacy devices speed detectors & there units are big & ugly :D

So I'm looking at spending my money else where on a different product & the cheetah C550 looks like a great piece of kit, have you had any problems with it? also I've watched a few youtube videos & it does seems very strong for a GPS connection (Fast) & it does tick the boxes for what my existing origin B2 use to do! Just doesn't seem to do London CC but ain't to bothered about that if I'm honest & the lifetime subscription @ £34.99 seems very reasonable & you get global locations.

I can say we are very pleased with it. The platinum subscription made sense to us, and we have it on the magnetic dash mount which is great. Can't speak for London, but here in the Newcastle /Gateshead area, where there are lots of cameras and laser/radar traps, its brilliant. On a recent trip to Inverness it was highly accurate.

We have adjusted it to match our speedo (an easy setting) and are well pleased with our purchase, so for us it's 10/10 all the way. Hope that helps.

Keith

Thanks for the reply Keith  appreciated very much, just one last thing, if ok! Have you done an update yet via the PC? that's how I use to update my origin B2 & I see that the cheetah update is the same method, has it been accurate & prompt when doing an update.

Edit: Can I ask where you purchased the device from & did it come with lifetime subscription or did you buy that from cheetah when you log in etc.

Thanks

Hi fella

I bought it direct from Cheetah with the platinum service. It arrives with the latest update already installed, so ready to use straight from the box.

I had it on the laptop last weekend just to see how to update it, and it all looks very straightforward.

A good product with full online and telephone (not robot) support should you need it.
