Time to replace SWMBO's Motor

Featured Replies

Jesus 10k for a 5 plus year old audi a1.

You really are paying for the badge.

Very bland ill equiped little cars.

A1 is ugly. Audi design language just doesn't translate to such a small car. I'd like to try the Fiesta though. I've driven a few recent ones but not an ST.

Yep, I definately did, to be fair that was over the course of 18 months and the first few were to more to decide for definate that the VRS was the right choice, I looked at all varients, petrol, diesel,  hatch and estate.

I always look at a lot of cars before making a decicision, we looked at 5 A1's, 2 Fiesta ST's, 2 Fabia monte carlo's one mk2 and 1 mk3 last weekend.

We are still no closer to a decision, she now wants to look at an Audi A3 and we have talked about her taking over my OctaviaVRS and me getting a mk3:o

Now that sounds like a plan  at least you both know the car, obviously it may muddy the water if it takes a further 18 month or so for you to find ' your ' next car  but if you wife likes the VRS it makes for a win win situation

I got to agree with Mike about the mk111 though, a lot of mk11 owners don't find them a step up following mk11 ownership

@mikeholroyd @davidwhite I'm not sure it is a starter, this has come about as she has decided she wants something with a bit more power, she drives the VRS on the odd occasion and likes the 170 bhp but she doesn't like the size of the car and hates parking it.

She has said if we do go down this route she wants rear sensors, which would require retrofitting or I may go down the rear camera route.

She has not dismissed the A1 but I need to locate a 1.4tsi 140 for her to test drive as the 120 she drove was OK but she would like more power.

She loves the power of the Fiesta ST but is not sure about the looks, she wants to go and see a white one.

She likes the look of the mk3 fabia but at 110bhp in the 1.2tsi she drove it's not powerful enough.

The idea of the A3 is that she thinks is not as big as the Octavia but she could get a 2.0tdi 150

The search continues.

The age old saying

happy wife happy life

certainly springs to mind here, fickle thing woman's logic

1 or 2 series?

If she likes badges she might like the blue propeller.

@Aspman yeah she has mentioned the 1 series although it's not a badge thing as we are now also looking at Citroën DS3 as a possible.

It's basically what she likes the look of then asks me to find one in the price range we are looking at if possible with a variant thar has a bit of performance.

The problem is she really doesn't know what she wants :@

If she buys a French car you know it'll break and you know it'll be your fault. Forever!

So to update on the car search, today SWMBO bought the below vehicle.

It is a 2013 Audi A3 2.0tdi cr 150 with just shy of 39,000 on the clock, 1 owner from new with full Audi service history.

The car is absolutely imaculate and the shiraz red paintwork (1st Audi I have seen in this  colour) is stunning in the sunlight.

The Audi dealership has agreed as part of the deal to wrap the front grill, chrome window surrounds and chrome accents under the fog lights in gloss black to emulate thd black style pack that was a factory option which I think will really set the car off.
