Fabia 1.4 8v Head Gasket Question

Featured Replies

Hiya all,

I have recently ordered a vRS fabia, and agreed a pex value for my 5 yr old 1 owner Fabia 1.4.

The issue is, my brother has asked about the car, and if I will sell it to him. I am concerned whether a 1.4 8v with 64K on the clock is likely to have head gasket trouble in the near future ?

Anyone got a higher mileage on a 1.4 8v engine ?

Cheers

RBW.

Mine has done only 50k so I Dont own one with that kind of mileage, but looking at some sources I Found the 8v is a likely candidate for head gasket failure (Though possibly not to a Rover K Series Standard :) ),

Along with misaligned auxiliary drive belts and the Fact that around 5% Of Fabia 1.4MPI's suffer coolant loss through due to insufficiently torqued stretch bolts. And Below 8 Degrees Celcius condensation in sumps of 1.0 and 1.4 engines emulsifies and blocks crankcase breather pipe leading to lack of engine lubrication and engine failure

Lots of Copying and Pasting There
