Fabia fog lights on

Featured Replies

The fog lights come on regardless when the lights are turned on.

Is the most cost effective thing to try replacing the light switch?

They are on all the time the lights are turned on - and off as soon as the lights are turned off.

Thanks

Removing fuse 65 will solve it permanently, for free.

If you replace the switch you'll fix the problem, what else can I tell you?

Will the fog lights still work as they should? or is fuse 65 for the foggies?

Thank you

Fuse 65 is front fogs, shouldn't affect the rear unless the switch is buggered in that position too. Try it and see.

Sorry guys, Mr Thicky here. I should have made it clear its the rear fog lights that are coming on.

Wino was being humourous, we have a lot of Scottish owners on here and they appreciate that kind of information.

There's a knack to removing the switch, you have to push the knob in and turn it clockwise while pushing to unlock it, then you can pull it out complete.

I wasn't. I thought he meant front fogs, 'cos he used plural. They're basically pointless most of the time.  If there ever was a day when it was foggy enough to use them legally, it would be easy enough to refit the fuse.  He specifically asked for a cost-effective solution, so I gave one.

The fact that you have both rear fogs active probably is related to the switch failure. Double the switched current compared to what it was designed for. Contacts have probably welded closed.

Many thanks to you all for the words of wisdom. Its nice to have a bit of moral and technical support.

Top fellows, all of you!
