63 plates fabia vrs not starting ticking

Featured Replies

My VRS has decided today that it's given up. Took it to work in leamington and the car started and drove fine. Went to start to drive home and it wouldn't. Just quick ticking all dash flashing. Rear wiper going when not on then slowly just losing more power. A friend tried to jump it but it's made no difference. Need help didn't realise my breakdown cover had finished. Anyone had the same problem?

Sounds battery or earth related.

Do you think it's worth paying out for a new battery and trying that?

Not without testing the one that's currently fitted. More so because you say putting jump leads on didn't fix it.

put your ignition on, headlights on nice and bright and try to start it, do the lights stay bright? Dim slightly or go off completely

I didn't try I've had to leave the car the daylight running lights came on dim and flickered though.

The battery is dead

Well it's got all the symptoms of it that's for sure.

i suppose your friend might not know what he's doing with the jump leads so didnt help much :D

Really you need to leave it running for a little while to charge up your flat battery and raise the revs on the other car while you start yours

I'll try tomorrow. Thanks both!

I had this problem and it was that the bolt connecting the battery to all the relays on top was missing had come loose so was connected to the battery but all the relays on top weren't getting power

Went and got a new battery and it's worked straight away. Driven it all day no issues. Over night will be the test I guess. Thanks everyone x
