Hmm. I was hoping for better news. Sorry to hear that Howard. When the dell freezes, is that using Tomtom/gps or even in standalone mode? :(

When using TomTom. I'm trying to send mine back, it really is a total waste of mullah.

Howard,

It could be a GPS reciever problem.

Neither myself nor Gaz (SixtySix etc) have had a prob with the software.

Geoff - im unable to set my home street - it recognises Stockton, then moves on to street names, where it knows my street name and post code, but wont move on from there to allow to input my house number -any clues?

Howard,

I don't recall having to do it like that. TomTom simply pinpointed the location of the house, and i then set that as my home location. I think i either entered the house number manually, or was given a list to choose from. I'll take a look sometime today and PM you ;)

Geoff - I had no problem with setting it up, once it gets a fix I add that to home address, but normally if I am going from A - B then on to C I just leave the system to pick up where I am then input the destination address. The only problem that I had was when downloading the Euro map, the power settings were set to sleep after 5 mins, thus corrupting download, reset power settings and "Robert is your fathers brother", but still cannot get the iPAQ to recognise the SD card.

GAZ...

Hmmm, i'm still scratching my head over the SD card thing Gaz.

Where have you stored your maps if not on an SD card ?

I have two flash Cards, they work fine, got UK map on one and map of Europe on tuther (don't know about you but I am getting fed up of trying to open posts and waiting for what seems forever)(you can nip off for a shower and shave, or make a cuppa tea, and when it is really bad, have a game of chess with your mate, best of three) Not as slick as old system. :nono:

:program:

Update peeps - I finally got em both working. After trawling through the forums on www.pocketgps.co.uk i found that a particular brand of CF card (Sandisk) is el cheapo muchos crappo and causes Dell Axims to crash and behave like very naughty children. Bet you can't guess what brand Dell sent me can you? Thought so. So i raided the old digicam, swapped the CF card and hey presto, the damn thing works. It is actually very easy to use, although it goes very dark when plugged into the car cigarette socket, yet lovely and bright when running off its own batteries - Geoff/Sixty-nine have any clue as to why this is?

hmmm, did i say sixty nine? i meant sixty six of course, guess my mind was else where - probably here -----> www.ishotmyself.com

erm....must go....

Hmm, interesting site... all in the name of artistic freedom ofcourse ;)

Howard - if you go into power settings and adjust from there , glad to hear that you are up and running, it's great when its working. Still cant get my hp2200 to recognise the SD cards.

69 ?

Howard, Gaz has probably hit the nail on the head, it sounds like something is amiss with the power settings.

Gaz, i'm totally stumped over your SD card prob, mine has been simplicity itself from day 1.

How about e-mailling the supplier?

Geoff

Tried that mail comes back undelivered, tried to phone, but because I am offshore our telephone system will not connect to freephone numbers, I have contacted hp helpdesk and awaiting reply.
