ac condensor and evaporator

Featured Replies

please let me know the ac condensor and evaporator location in octavia2005 mark 2 model

The condenser is the first radiator you see at the front of the car. The evaporator is built onto the condenser, not a separate part. Changing it can be done DIY but it takes ages, as the whole front end has to come of the car.

Evaporator will be located under the dash as part of the heater/air con system.

The receiver/dryer is part of the condenser at the front.

being part of the aircon unit it is not a DIY job due to the gasses involved.

But the op could quite easily take the car to have the gas taken out then do the work himself and return for a regas later. No problem with that. And save a small fortune too. I've just had a new condensor fitted a few weeks back and the total bill was £370. There was a leak test with that ( as i couldn't find it ) plus a gas but if i knew where the leak was i would've tackled that job myself.

True about the gases but chances are if the condenser needs replaced it because its got a hole and by then the gases have already gone AWOL.

I agree. Mine was completely empty. It only went in the garage as i didn't know there was a leak. Well not 100%. I thought the compressor had failed tbh but it was a leaking condensor. Not due to a stone either apparently it was leaking at the dryer area.

Thanks, yeah we found the evaporator is behind the golve box and found a leak in the evaporator and to remove it the whole dashboard had to be open. have another doubt does the evaporator model differ in a righthand drive and left hand drive car. experts please advice.

I replaced the condenser on my VRS diesel the other day and it only took 2 hrs. Car up on ramps, under tray off, fans out, rad out, intercooler and condenser out. Didn't have to remove any of the front end parts.
