Help needed! New owner!

Featured Replies

Hi all

I am new to Skodas and have just purchased a 2002 Octavia 1.9td.

I noticed that where the coolant bottle is there is a connector - but on mine nothing is plugged in to it!

There was a wire that was bent back on itself and tucked back in the sleeve - not sure if it has anything to do with this but now I am worried!

Car drives fine and I didn't notice this when I looked at it!

Any help much appreciated!

There should be a plug on the end of the wire that plugs into the coolant bottle for the coolant level sensor.

The part number on mine is 1JO 973 202 (see photo).

Hope this helps.

Ps. You can find them on eBay or any decent scrap yard, yours seems to have been bypassed which is why you have no warning lights on the dash.

It may be worth taking a little coolant out of the bottle while you're at it as the level looks a bit high.

Regards. Dave.

The sensors end up with gunk on them as they age. the fix is to either clean them with a tooth brush or replace the bottle.

You'll be fine provided you keep an eye on your temps and check your car every now and then to make sure fluids are ok.
