Anyone catch the rally of Australia on the weekend ? The great surprise to me was that Skoda has now quietly obtained another WRC manufacturers point, and has now moved up ahead of Hyundai & Mitsubishi into 4th place behind Subaru, Ford, Peugeot.

Now all they need is a smaller nimbler car, I wonder where that will come from?

Anyone know if they're planning on WRC'ing the Fabia ?

Not sure if they are "ahead" of the others, think they are all equal 4th now with 9pts a piece....

....the Fabia WRC is much rumoured, as is a roadgoing Fabia RS.

Just wish Channel 4 would show some more of the skoda's!

According to wrc-online;

"...gives the Czech manufacturer and the Octavia's Finnish driver a point in the manufacturers' and drivers' championship respectively. Importantly this means Skoda are now back up to equal 4th in the championship standings with Mitsubishi and Hyundai and in the event of a tiebraker after the one remaining round it would be the Czech marque who would triumph."

There must be one of the smallprint rules that take into account the non-points finishes perhaps? either way it could be good for Skoda, how times change, it can't have been more than 2-3 years ago that Mitsubishi were invincible...! :D
