AC no function

Featured Replies

Hi Octavistas,

my Airco stops working, all fuses okay,  vents working correct, lightning switches working correct.....tried a AC Service to refill the system... the pressure switch leaks .....let evacuate the system  and set in a new pressure switch .....refill again...Airco works nearly perfect, a very small gas leak at the condenser between the white cap and the metall tube....it´s the Denso part. Tried to fix the leak with Sika. After the summer (mechanic thinks, leak is small and the Airco will still work until then) I must replace the condenser.

But this time I will take the Hella Condenser which hasn´t the plastic cap.

Does anyone know what must be dismantled for exchange?

Will let evacuate the system first.

Then : Headlights out,

fog lights out,

underbody tray off

front bumper off

and then can I reach the four screws of the condenser and the tube connection ?

Set in the new condenser and refit bumper and lights and let refill the system!?

Anything else?

Maybe pics or video for the repair?

Thanks for your input and greetings from France

Brett

It seems like you have a pretty good handle already. I can't tell you much more. I will have a look at some online manuals (you could too).  I'm not too sure if you need to remove the front crash bars as well to remove the condenser?

Because of the evacuation and recharge a lot of this work tends to be done by an AC specialist or garage.

Good luck. Someone with more experience than me in this area may also chip in....

Edit: This suggests removal of the radiator required.  So I suppose it removes from behind rather than in front.

Recently replaced the condenser on my MK2 FL...

Air intake off, fans & shroud off (removed from above) Undertray off, Rad off (removed from below) Headlights out to access Intercooler side bolts, Intercooler & condenser off (again from below) Condenser is bolter to the intercooler so swapped the old for the new and the rebuild was a reverse of the removal. Total time was about 2 hours

I had this very same problem in my mk2. The A/C pressure didn't last very long and I tried to get a new plastic plug.  Denso said it was,t their part and didn't make parts for skoda A/C. ?? !.  Had to  replace the condenser in the end.

Thanks for your input Gentlemen,

yes, the Denso cap ins´t available as a single spare part, you have to buy a complete condenser. The Denso Condenser is a bad construction. So I will renew with the better Hella condenser, nearly the same price but in a better construction.

Stop the very small leak with a ball of glass sealer. That will last for a long while....
