Feeling thoroughly fed up with insurance

Featured Replies

Yeah, another I hate insurance thread.

Car got reversed into at a junction back in January. Enough damage to warrant me claiming through insurance. Basically driver in front pulled off from the junction and then decided he wasn't and reversed back and kept going. Into the front of my car.

Called insurance, car went in, got fixed.

10 years no claims. Not protected (didn't think!)  Insurance due for renewal in may and the insurance company still haven't settled with the other party. Pretty hacked off but they are saying that until it's settled I've lost those 10 years no claims. Means my insurance is going to sky rocket. I'm hacked off as it wasn't my fault yet the insurance company are making me bare the brunt of the other driver! Surely my ncd shouldn't be revoked until it's settled either way. Not the other way round. Guess it just means they get more money out of me.

Grrrrr

Hi,

Unfortunately until your insurer recovers their outlay from the 3 party your NCB would normally be prejudiced I'm afraid. You shouldn't lose all of it though. The insurer would normally step the discount back by a couple of years depending on their NCB scale. You'll probably find this information in your policy booklet.

Dan

@DAN@ADRIAN FLUX thanks for that.

I've just had my renewal and you are indeed correct. They have knocked a couple of years no claims off me but I still have 7 years. Renewal of £72 a month though!!!

Best start looking around. Do you guys do a multi car policy?

That happened to me but I didn't lose any no claims. I had to declare the accident as joint fault until it was settled.

Was advised by a mate in the industry that if you can you have the insurance of the at-fault party carry out the repairs. That saves your company having you down as a joint fault until they settle with the other party.

Admiral are fairly good with their multicar insurance.

Although we do not do a traditional multi-car policy (each vehicle would have to be insured on it's own policy) we do give discounts for having multiple vehicles insured through us. If you wanted to drop me a PM I'd be happy to arrange a quotation for you.
