Octavia 2008 Remote problem (have both keys with working transponder) + few other problems

Featured Replies

Hello!

I have few problems with my Octavia TDI 2000 yr 2008.

The major problem I currently looking for a solution is a problem with my remote, I have both of the keys both can start the engine (3 buttons key) one of the keys working kind of fine it open and locks the car but I have to click twice for it to open all the doors + every time I start moving it locks all the doors automatically and to open the door u have to pull the handle twice.. it is fine for me but when I have passengers it is very annoying..

The other key is working but the remote doing problems.. when I click any key the light does not blink (the one on the remote) it will always open the trunk and lock the doors but not always will open them and I have to unlock it manually with the key.. very annoying, already tried to replace battery even tho the old one had a good volts to operate. the wierd thing is after refitting the battery the remote will work perfectly fine but only for the first 2-3 clicks.. after that, it goes back the same thing again.I though of buying a new remote (I saw that coding the transponder is hard but what about only the remote? is it doable for me without the vcd stuff? how to?

2 other things

one window doing very awful noise when open\close - tried chain spray that but I didn not recived results.

the other thing is a connection problem with the seatbelt, sometime even when my belt is on I have that annoying noise, I've done a little resarch and some say there is some kind of connector under the seat but it might disable the airbags which are important for me as a new driver, how can I stop it without taking any risks? is it safe to disconnect it? I don't know where to find VCD in my area..

Thanks!!

This bit is a car programming option, laptop with VCDS is required to change it or a dealer can change it.

As for the intermittant remote, if it works fine for a short time after the battery is replaced then it sounds like dirty battery contacts. Clean the remote battery contacts. The best thing to use is Isopropyl alcohol and / or a contact cleaning pen / contact cleaner.

tried already to clean the contacts but nothing.. something really weird it does not even make sense - consistently 2-3 clicks before light desappear.

I don't have where to get VCD from...

what about the other problems? and can't I program a new key without VCD?

It's VCDS, not VCD ;)

VCDS is unable to add new keys to your car unfortunately. It will allow you to change the selective unlocking and auto lock/unlock though.

You might want to add where you are in the world?  The following two threads might help:

and if I lost my keys? it cant be possible that there is no option to add a key.. especially if I have bothe keys... I'm from Israel.

The unlock button on the keys does 2 different things, if you press it once then only the drivers door will unlock, if pressed twice it will unlock all of the doors; this is a normal feature.

The lock button is similar press it once it locks all doors, press it twice and it will deadlock the doors, again this is a normal feature. if you hold the lock button on then any windows left open will then self close (must keep the button pressed) and the mirrors will fold if the mirrors have electric fold.

The boot button allows you to open the boot to put stuff in while keeping the car locked (it disarms the sensors in the car so the alarm dosen't go off, once you close the boot it rearms the sensors) again a normal feature.

I think the self lock when you drive off can be turned of in one the sub menus on the Maxidot (if your car has it) and so can the the seatbelt warning chime, but it will still leave the little light on the dash. The airbag system will still work as it's only a reminder to put your seat belt on

Ah, VCDS it is then, Iknow it's annoying but the self lock when pulling away is supposed to be a safety feature, but i don't like it either. There should be a lock/unlock button on the centre console (just in front of the cup holder), it does what it says on the tin, just press unlock and all doors should unlock. As for the seatbelt chime i don't know how to turn that off on non maxidot cars. It should only chime for 90 seconds and then leave the light on.

It's easy enough to add keys with the right equipment, it just isn't something VCDS can do.

A dealer would likely use ODIS, an auto-locksmith will use a variety of 3rd party tools.

Only two members who claim to have VCDS in Israel are yarivda (Hadera) and rabeno (Haifa).

ti supposed to be 90 seconds but it is reconnecting every time so the 90 seconds resets.. so all my problems will remain until I will find VCDS?

I believe if you press it twice it will deactivate the deadlocking.

It will deadlock automatically on the first press. Try it with a window open.

nope, press lock button once it locks all doors, press twice it dead locks the vehicle.

Press unlock once, the deadlock de activates but only the drivers door unlocks, press it twice and all doors unlock.

As said both my octys have/had the same system and yes i have tried with the window open, on mine and on customers cars, the owners handbook explains its the same way i have, all vag group cars with this style of key work the same way.

I agree with Tilt as my manual states :-

"The central locking  system  is equipped  with  a  safe  securing  system.  Locking  the vehicle  from the outside causes  the door  locks to be  automatically blocked.  The warning light  flashes  for  around  2  seconds  in  quick succession, afterwards  it  begins to  flash  evenly  at  longer  intervals.  It  is  not possible  to open  the doors with  the door handle either from the inside or from  the  outside. This  acts as an  effective  deterrent for attempts  to break  into your vehicle. You can  deactivate  the safe securing  system by locking twice within  2 seconds."

Richard

I also agree as my handbook leads me to believe that a double lock press disables the deadlock and the internal sensors when leaving children/pets in the car temporarily.

nope..................I do not believe they have designed just your car differently...........check again. Press once = deadlocked.

The 'unlock once - open drivers door only' depends on your own vehicle settings but I do not believe the deadlocking activation can be altered.

With deadlocking (safe-secure) deactivated the alarm still remains active, but without the internal sensors monitoring.
