Interior removal

Featured Replies

does anyone have any instruction, or link on how to remove the interior of a superb?

i need to remove the front seats (undo the 4 bolts, unplug any cables after disconnecting the battery i assume), although the capitive nuts being loose makes me worried

i also need to remove the "B" pillar trim, and the trim along the bottom of the door opening. I had a play on Sunday trying to remove these, but it looks like i need to remove the trim at the top of the "B" Pillar in order to remove the bottom trim, but i cant see how the top trim comes away. I found the screw hiding behind the airbag logo, but it still dosent want to come off, and i dont want to use too much brute force (yet).

if anyone knows how to remove the bonnet release handle, i'd love to know.

in case your wondering, its to fit some audio in the car, so 0 guage power cable down the passenger side, and 3 pairs of RCA cables, plus speaker cable down the driver side.

Thanks!

The bonnet release lever looks like this when removed:-

So you need to get a screwdriver blade behind the clip and tease it out,  This is all on the far side of the handle. It doesn't need any force, if it does then you're levering the wrong part.

The seat's bolts come out without any problems (no losing of captive nuts etc.). They are tightly done up, though.

The front door sill trim just uses conventional clips that (eventually) release when you pull upwards, it's very stiff to remove. If I remember correctly the kick-panel trim (bottom of the A-pillar) is best removed first.

The rear door sill trim is like the front but with an extra trim clip not used on the front, this seems to get partly broken. Even with hindsight I can't see how I could have avoided this.

It all came out and went back ok, (but the sill trim pieces won't be so perfect underneath after they have been removed, but only you'll know), the Japanese make this a bit easier on their cars!  I think a problem is trying not to stress the sill covers so that white 'stress marks' are visible on the upper surface of the trims.

I haven't ever removed the B-pillar tops, just partially removed the bottoms.

(In case you wondered, I was removing the carpet to fit extra sound-deadening).

I went through this a few weeks ago doing the electrical install for towing.

The lower B-pillar trim can be removed without completely removing the upper pillar trim - Skoda's guide to this suggests just pulling the upper trim away at the lower end. From doing it myself there are two gotchas: the pillar air vent is tricky to line up with the duct behind it - I ended up removing the vent from the trim and refitting it separately; make sure to line up the seatbelt adjuster with the belt behind when clipping it back into place.

The rear sill trim is screwed into place at the rear end: you need to remove the seat side bolster to get at the screw. The rest is just clips - I used a long screwdriver to pry them up one by one rather than risk breaking the trim by hauling on it.

The B-pillar trim is awkward because some clips are pushed in (along the pillar) while others are pushed down (along the sill). It's removable without taking off the upper trim or removing the seat but it's a bit awkward and you'll need patience.

Front sill trim just lifts off - again I used my long screwdriver on the clips to avoid breaking things.

I put some extra wiring in mine, I took off the door seal trim and pushed the wires between the body and the  B pillar plastic, I used my old fishwire from years ago to get the wires into the engine bay. I managed to tuck  the wires up under the plastic sill trim and the carpet  . You're almost bound to break one or two of the clips if you pull the plastic off, they must be designed to be pushed on only once  at manufacture

well thats some new metal clips bought (thanks for the reminder, 1 or 2 are missing already, and i broke one yesterday. 6 tins of spray adhesive for the carpet/MDF build bought, as i have used 1 already!

for the B Pillar trim, i tried to pull it away at the bottom, but looking behind it, it looks like the is a locating pin that faces down and drops into a hole in a metal hanger or something. thats why i assumed that i needed to take the upper carpeted trim off first before lifting that piece up to remove it.

have you got a link to skodas guide so i can have a better look.

thanks

I'm afraid not, perhaps a haynes manual?

You have to buy it through the Erwin portal. I think it's 7gbp for an hour's access. I paid about €30 here for 24 hours' access and downloaded everything.
