Back Pressure?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just toying with thoughts of upgrading the zorst on the fabby.

I've got a few options, Blueflame, miltek or powerflow. I'm just unsure as yet which one.

Now I can do a search for the blueflame and miltec but powerflow is the one I could do with some help.

I'm toying with the idea of a twin rear exit (it maybe ****) but at what point would the back pressure (or lack of it) cause loss in performance.

In other words will a twin system cost me power or will it make no difference to the other systems?

Any points/view/web pages to read would help.

Cheers

If it helps I was told (not sure on validity of course) than in my setup in particular the turbo alone is creating enough back pressure, so the idea of needing an exhaust to try and keep this was not the case for me. So, I just needed something to get the stuff outta there as fast as possible.

For some odd reason I can't wait until Weds 15th Feb.... Dunno why though? ;)

turbos dont really need back pressure hence most turbo exhausts are huge pipwork your priority is getting the gas out

cool, I just wanted to check.

powerflows system include a sport cat is at a fair good price hmmm :rubschin:

I have an excellent drive by video of the Blueflame on Shiftys Fabia, which may help you decide!

I know what you mean, hence I'm hoping for some feed back. Trouble is eveytime I choose some else pops into my mind and I'm unsure again.

The only plus points to the powerflow is:

Custom made with a choice if different tails.

Comes with a life long g'tee. (milltek only offer 12 months)

Tom any chance you could PM/e-mail me it

Well, my powerflow decat pipe and backbox have been good. But as it uses the oem pipework, its time for a change. I'm going to a specialist for a full stainless. And if anyone has ever been under their car and seen all those "lumpy" bits in the system - I won't have any.... anywhere. ;)

try pro speed in cadiff i think it is for a custom exhaust by someone who knows what he is doing

I've been recently speaking to Ed at Automotive Performance Services (www.autops.co.uk) as I'm going down there on Saturday to get my new Eibach's fitted. I asked him about getting a new exhaust fitted to mine he was saying it's definately worth it as the bore of the standard one is very small and if I go down the custome remap route it'll allow for better performance due to higher boost pressures. I got lost as I'm not very technical and most of it went over my head which is probably why none of this makes sense, but he's a very knowledgeable guy when it comes to tuning.

Also I'll be one of their first customers and he told me he'll have a chat with me about some other toys I may be interested in. I'll let you know if I get my head round the technical bits once they explain it to me properly.

Mike,

Read my PM I sent you, exhausts are something we were talking about with regards to a possible group buy with APS.

Currnetly in the exhaust market too, I dislike most of the tailpipe selections out there at the mo so the solution is powerflow, but I dislike what i have seen, plus read the powerflow warranty carefully, i believe its only the material that is warrantied, the welds are not, and they tend to go there too, Or at least this was the case circa 4 years ago

get shot of the cat unless your car is super smokey else it will pass the mot no bother at all, should free up a bit of response from the loud pedal??!! mot is only only a smoke test after all!

Well as for powerflow, my uncle just had one fitted to the barge.

He was very impressed by the staff and the workmanship of it. He also stated that the barge feels much more perky than before

"It pushes me back in the seat now"
to be fair the old system did have a few holes in it which didn't help.

Only time will tell if its a good system.

Have you Tried Tony Law in Leeds?????

Superb Chap!
