Top Gear Olympics Special this Sunday

Featured Replies

Heads up folks -- there is a one off Top Gear Winter Olympics special this Sunday, BBC as usual.

It includes the first UK TV appearance of the Audi Q7 -- pitted against Jeremy Clarkson's own Volvo XC90 in Norway in January this year.

Noticed that in the Sky+ Planner yesterday.

Looks awesome as you would expect!...checkout the car trivia quiz thing on straight after it!

nice one, cheers for that. i'd never have looked

The boss' wife is getting one of those. Seems quite expensive and they've been on the waiting list for a long time.

And they'll have quite a wait yet -- even if they are at the front of the list -- it's not out untill July!!

We've got 5 people that ordered when the concept came out in 2003!!

Surely it's just a Toureg in an Audified body?

Yep, seems to be. I quote like the look of the Toureg but the Audi looks a bit odd to me. If I absolutely needed a 4x4 and had that sort of budget it would be between the V6 TDI Toureg and the D5 XC90.

And TG is duely noted down already - mainly cos Clarkson mentioned it in his Sunday Times column :)

But thanks

Q7 is based on same platform as the toureg and cayenne -- but has longer wheel base and is larger overall to give additional room for the standard 7 seat configuration.

Only the UK is getting air suspension and 7 seats as standard

Sounds ideal for the school run and lunches with the other Cheshire ladies then. What are the off-road capabilities?

Probably struggle to mount a pavement, never mind a muddy trail somewhere, most pointless design on the road these sorts of things, people with too much money/ no sense only buy them so they can look down at everyone else on the road...

I'll have a Range Rover Sport please............... in orange.

And an oil refinary to go with it!

Two chassis? Does strike me as rather unecessary. Or perhaps necessary because it hasn't been designed properly enough to get away with just one

Off-road capabilities are v.good apparently -- my DP came back from tenerife last week - they took the Q7 up into the mountains and they were offroading on rough gravel with potholes at 60-70mph with no issues -- should be ideal for british roads:D

Rangey or Disco III for me please, the Disco is a heavy old hector at 2.7 tons but It would do me nicely if I had to have an off roader.

Either that or a ssangyong musso..............

Anyone know what JC uses as a runabout over here? e.g. does he don Stig's disguise and take a Smart Car?
