Tsi remap DV?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Ive recently got myself a 2009 Octavia vrs tsi. I'm totally new to skoda's and the TSI engine as I've been running a 420bhp 1.8T 20V and know little about the TSI engine.

The car is a go between for a year or so. It is nippy but obviously a far cry from what I'm used to so I'm looking to remap it to wake it up abit. I'm just wondering about the Diverter Valve, is the stock one up to the job at stage 1 or do they realistically need to be replaced?  Such as a GFB DV+?

many thanks

It depends on the condition of the one that is there.  Later revisions have a different design. For £40 on a stage 1 map. I'd probably replace it just with a revision of your choosing. Or do the remap and see if it fails and drops boost. But OEM should be ok for Stage 1.

There is the odd thing or two to watch out for on EA888 TSIs.  You may want to review the engine failure threads as a sticky at the top of these forums.

Edit: in referring you to the failures threads, Im assuming yours is a mk2 facelift...

Thanks for the reply,

yes its a mk2 facelift. What year was the revised Diverter Valve?

As mentioned by The Client, it is worth inspecting / replacing the timing chain tensioner for that age of car (unless the previous owner has already done it).

Diverter valve to get would be the GFB DV+ or the D revision piston type valve - yours will almost definitely be the diaphragm style one (but not saying it will fail when going to Stage 1).

Thanks for the advice, I'll get it looked at to be on the safe side.

looks like it's quite a pain to change the DV, what's the best way to get to it?

You would go through the wheel arch

Just fitting a new rev G currently as i was lead there were issues with the D type? Anyway, when fitting the new part, is it recommended to apply a smear of oil to the internals for lubrication, or fit it dry?
