EML and Glow plug system warning light on

Featured Replies

Hello,

Two weeks into owning a MK2 Octavia VRS CR170 and absolutely love it... until this morning. Started the car up after the glow plug light went out and a few seconds after the glow plug light flashed back on a few times and then went out. 20mins into the journey the glow plug light started flashing, lack of power, no turbo - I'm assuming limp mode. Pulled over, switched the car off and on again and this cleared the light; power restored. 15mins later the glow plug light is back on but this time with the Engine management light too and the car is back in limp mode. Drove the last 4 miles to work and shut the car off. From a search on here it could be the EDF sensor, anyone had a similar experience or could this be something else?

I'm having the fault codes red but unfortunately this involves driving 20mile to the garage :o

I can scan it for you if you want. I notice that you live in Hertfordshire. I live in Hemel Hempstead.

Thank you for the kind offer, in a bit of a rush to get it sorted so I had it scanned this afternoon;

Error code - 001027 ERG Valve N18 sporadic intermittent

Taking it to the local garage to get it sorted, possible ERG valve replacement...looks simple from the guide I found online but no time!

Is your EGR the one with the cooler at the back of the engine under DPF  and Turbo?

Luckily it's at the front of the engine (so the garage say), so not a huge chore to get to. Fingers crossed it's a clean out rather than new part.

If it is just a clean out and not a new part it won't need adapting via VDCS will it?

Just for future reference how much do you charge to scan a car?
