Old vRS owner looking to jump back over!

 

I'm interested in the 245 estate and have noticed that the model has shown up on Drive the Deal with a list price of £30,185 but no options list to spec the car up. Google search has thrown up nothing so I'm in the dark as to what is included in the base spec. 

 

Long shot but does anyone have any idea what the base spec looks like at all?!

 

 

Im guessing it'll be the same as the 230 was ... Full 'leather' with electrically adjustable heated seats, 19" alloys and the black pack.

 

It'd be nice if they included dynamic chassis control as standard too, but I doubt they will.

Any Good ?

Going to be Alcantara as the brochure says, there's no leather option on the cooking VRS. List price came up as £28795 for me?  If the spec is as expected that seems a pretty good deal. Not keen on the wheels however.

 

 

 

 

 

I would have really preferred the Alcantara on my 230 - the leather isn't proper leather at all. Really noticeable, even coming from an 10 year old Alfa!

 

It's pretty shoddy stuff - it's not wearing well after 10k miles, creases easily, doesn't clean up well, and just feels a bit cheap.

Agree with this, mine has the neoprene cloth/half leather which also looks and feels a bit cheap and I would have preferred the centre bits to be alcantara instead. 

 

A colleague has the full leather in his VRS and it hasn't worn well in his either despite him only covering about 20k in it. The Dakota leather in my 3 series looked pretty fresh and crease free when I sold it at 90k. Only sign of wear was on the side bolster from getting in and out.

The new Octavia vrs 230 has a letather/alcantara seats. When I order it the only option to choose in configurator was leather but it came in this combination leather/alcantara. 

 

I really like those

Yeah, those are really nice. Prefer them to my full leather.

 

Then again mine was an ex demo so I didn't spec it and can't be fussy!

Anyone tried to order a 245 yet? I'm tempted if the standard spec includes the stuff I would add to the standard VRS. 

They are not officially available yet, so I doub't whether anyone can order. It would also be nice to confirm exactly what the standard spec is for this model. 245PS, 19'ers, black-pack and alcantara are certs, but what about pricing, the VAQ-Diff, Canton etc..?

VAQ diff will be certain, but Canton is unlikely.

Hope all is well in briskoda....have not be on for a long time....Have not had a RS for about 12 mths...I just ordered new RS 245 DSG i'm based in Dublin but expect it to be similar in GB...went for corrida red week 24 build ready for 172, was looking to spec the new velvet red but not avail until week 45 a bit late for a 172 car...extras spec CANTON,DCC,KESSY with Alarm,DAB,heated seats...this all in costs 46,000...list for RS 245 DSG 42,165 not inc delivery or metallic...comes withVAQ,19 Extremes,black pack,Alcantara, CC,rear view camera,LED lights with cornering,auto-dimming/power-folding/heated mirrors,elec front seat,smartlink+,hill hold,ambient lighting 10 colours,Columbus with wifi and telephone charge dock,pedestrian protection,online service and much more...looking forward to it have tested the 230 and was very impressed cheers

I'd be very surprised if it's on Drive the Deal if you can't order. I can't see why they would do that at all.

Its now on the UK configurator so presumably available to order now as well.

Not much colour choice (solid red/grey or metallic black/white).

Same as the VRS 230 edition of the pre-facelift :(

I still hate the revised front lights. Whoever approved them should be sacked. With only four colours, black disguises their ugliness best.

 

Does anyone rememer when Subaru did a similar thing and put "bug eye" light clusters on the Impreza, completely ruining the cars "manliness". Each year afterwards they slighty refreshed the lights in an attempt to redress the error.

I've kind of come round to them not causing violent revulsion but totally agree they are best in darker colours (ie any colour as long as its black on the 245).

 

So the vRS 245 comes with the 7 speed DSG box.  The data on the configurator suggests it does about 1.5-2mpg better on the fuel consumption front than the standard 230bhp with the 6 speed DSG.  Also officially it is 0.3 seconds quickly to 60, although that will be in part due to the extra power than the 7 speed box.

 

Are there other advantages to the 7 speed box than performance and economy?  Is it smoother, more reliable etc?

If the 245 gets the DQ381 7-speeder then it should handle slightly higher torque than the old DQ250. Some sites are quoting 420NM for the DQ381 vs 400NM for the old 6-speeder. The 7-speeder should be a little stronger and a little bit better on petrol.

 

 

It is really poor of Skoda when you think that 3 years ago you could have a SEAT Leon Cupra with 265 ps or 280ps.

I was in the dealers earlier today and they have a FL in the show room

 

If you squint really tightly and look at the front it looks a bit chinesey         ARRR SO !
