Monte Carlo Exhaust

Featured Replies

Sent my Monte for M-O-T got an advisory that the back box was corroded (car 2011), so thought i would have a standard stainless steel one made up with a single pipe total cost about £160 fitted, so contacted my ins, who flatly refused to cover me saying it was a modification that they dont cover, unless it is a part recommended by Skoda, so thought i would try for a standard box the same as what is on the car now, local exhaust garage said no one makes aftermarket boxes for this car , so rang main agent, they want £345 fitted, what the ****.

Which Insurance Company or Brokers Employee told you that a Stainless Steel replacement exhaust is a modification.

Get them to send in writing that they will only insure OEM replacement exhaust parts or SKODA CZ Factory Approved part.

Insurance is through RAC, the actual insurer is Zurich.

Best Email them to confirm that Zurich Insurance will not insure a vehicle with a Stainless Steel after market exhaust which is for longevity of life of the exhaust and not performance.

There will be many thousands of RAC insured drivers out there with Stainless Steel Exhausts that are not Factory Fitted.

Obviously Replacement Exhausts from Manufacturers have to meet a standard and the market for them in the UK must run into the millions of quid.

It will be good to see a response from the RAC Insurance or Zurich Insurance the underwriters.

Just rang Zurich, they have confirmed , as it is not made from the same material as the manufacturer supplies, it is classed as a modification.
