Bluetooth conection Nexus 5X to Superb Elegance

Recommended Posts

I have a 2011 Superb Elegance with the Columbus headunit. I have swapped phones to a Nexus 5X which I am having problems pairing to the car.
I am unable to pair it as a phone. I can detect it and enter in the pairing code but then it just hangs and won't connect. I can pair it as a media device to play music ok. I've tried un-ticking the sync contacts option. I've tried a couple of Nexus 5X's both which had the same issues. Other phones have been fine.

Has anyone got any suggestions, this is driving me crazy and I'd really like to be able to use my phone.

Do you know which BT module is fitted to your Superb and if the nexus 5X's are fully updated?

I got my 5X on release and apart from a bug with rSAP (now fixed) it's been great with my MY12 Octavia.

Hi. The BT module 5N0 035 730 D and the phone is running Android 7.1.2.

Great phone, great car. I'd just like them to work together.

Have you tired both HFP and rSAP modes? I think that module should support both.

Unfortunately there aren't any firmware updates for these BT modules and that one is ~7 years old now.

I use the latest 3C8 035 730 E version without any issues, even that is from 2014...

How do you switch between HFP and rSAP? With other phones connected you can dial via the Columbus and access the phonebook and call registers.

is it possible to upgrade to a 3C8 035 730 E or another newer module?

You should be able to dial using the Columbus and access the phonebook etc regardless of HFP or rSAP. The most notable difference is that with HFP you won't be able to access text messages.

The 3C8 035 730 E is the latest BT module I've come across, after this date they started using the newer MIBI/MIBII style headunits with BT built in. Upgrading is simply a case of switching the module and using VCDS or similar to check the coding is correct.

The rSAP/HFP switch can be done using the maxidot. I think it's: Settings -> Phone settings -> Phone mode -> Handsfree or Premium.

On my module both work, you may have better success with it set to Handsfree (HFP) assuming it's currently using Premium (rSAP).

I can't connect my Nexus to my Octavia at all :s

Please help!

Might need a little more than that ;)

Which nexus do you have?

What android/security update is it running?

What type of Octavia is it, MK1, MK2 pre-FL/FL, MK3 pre-FL/FL?

Right, let me think...

Nexus 5x. It's the latest update, whatever that is - I always keep the phone updated.

MK3 Octavia, year is 2014... not sure if that's pre- or post-facelift (does the old one have the green badge? If so, mine is the newer one).

A quick update.

I'm not sure how I managed this but I have connected my phone to the car successfully. Previously I presume I have always connected my phones via HFP as there was never the option of SMS on the headunit. How when my phone is connected there is the SMS option and there is a premium logo on the maxidot so i presume it's connected via rSAP.

This is great, however via rSAP it means you can only make or receive a call via the car and not the phone. Also as the phones signal is controlled via the car the phone has no signal and so the navigation or and media streaming can't be used.

There is a work round for this. When I get in the car the phone connects automatically via rSAP. I then disconnect the Bluetooth, either via the HU or the phone. I then connect the phone via the media player option. This connects the phone via HFP and I can use the handsfree and the phone itself has signal for navigation and media.

If I could work out how to switch between HFP and rSAP I would try HFP. However there isn't the options on my maxidot you suggested Langers.
