New Octavia Combi Facelift Model - OK to use VCDS?

Featured Replies

I have taken delivery of a brand new Octavia 1.4TSI SEL today and have the optional power trunk fitted.

Its really annoying that the only way to close it is to press the button on the boot lid so, as i have VCDS, i want to enable the closing of the boot using the Remote and Button on the dash but just wanted to check that plugging the VCDS into the facelifted vehicle wont have a detrimental effect..

The only reason for asking is that im sure that I read on one of the threads on briskoda that someone had taken delivery of a brand new car and scanning with VCDS removed all coding meaning that it had to be sent on a tow truck back to the dealer - and i dont want that to happen to me :-)

A simple scan using VCDS should never cause any issues.

Assuming it's a genuine cable and you're running the latest version of VCDS, you should be fine. I would do an full autoscan first, save the output and leave the log file open while you do the coding :)

Just done a full scan and lots of the controllers are saying unsupported vehicle - Im on the latest version of VCDS (17.1.3 x64) so it looks like it doenst support the new Octavia yet :-(

Do Rosstech need the scan results to help with their R&D ?

You could try the latest beta and if that doesn't work, ask on their forum :)

I have checked for latest versions (Including betas) and it says that there isnt any available.

I have maiiled support @ rosstech to see if they can give some guidance

Got an email back from Rosstech asking me to download the beta version (even though enabled automatic download of beta versions in VCDS and it said that nothing was found??)

Installed the Beta - did a scan - all works and allowed me to change the Power Trunk options which i wanted to do

Kudos to Rosstech for the quick response
