Hi all,

 

A cracked wing mirror casing/cover on a 2004 Skoda Fabia VRS..

 

want to get this perfect, so what's the most cost effective way to sort this?

 

buy a cover only and repaint?

buy entire mirror and repaint?

get current cracked one fixed and painted?

 

are all mirrors the same across the mk1 range? And any other vag models the same?

Buy a second hand one in the correct colour and change it yourself. 

 

Check the cars breaking section and see if there's one for you. 

I'm after a drivers side yellow one for a potential 54 plate Fabia VRS at the weekend.

Think I'll struggle to find a yellow breaking one :(

Ah, that may be a problem :( Cakt remember seeing a yellow one being broken, but take a look anyway. 

 

I would take a look on EBay then.

Will keep an eye out. 

Failing that, ill get a replacement cover and paint it/fit it myself.

 

I once read that the wing mirrors for the mk1 Fabia were scavenged out of the Audi A8 parts bin... it could of been a complete myth but I definitely read it on the forum somewhere (although it was a few years back now). If you don't find a Fabia wing mirror you could always double check if the Audi A8 was compatible, although if I'm honest there are a lot more Fabia's being written off and broken than Audi A8's!

I have a red fabia Mk1 with a damaged drivers side mirror so looking to replace it. Mine are Electric & heated. If I can't find a red one I'm after two black ones..

looked on eBay but can't see any

This HAS to be the single most unhelpful post I've ever seen, not only is it not true but Audi sold literally dozens of A8's in the UK and how many in scrapyards now?

A new shell is £30 then it needs painting and assembly. An alternative is to buy clip on covers.

There were mirror finish ones around a few years ago. Superskoda do real stainless steel ones for 50 euro a pair.

 

EDIT: You might find new shell for less on eBay.
