Rear Light Cluster Issues

Featured Replies

On my 2016 Rapid Hatch the nearside rear light cluster seems to have developed some issues.
The two W5W tail light bulbs and the fog lamp filament (only) of the dual-filament bulb have stopped working.
The bulbs are not at fault and neither has any fuse blown.

Anyone experienced similar and have a solution?

TIA.

Not had this issue, but does sound like the impact of water ingress into the unit - if you are absolutely sure the bulbs haven't blown.

Is the car still under warranty?

Yep. Still under warranty. No sign of water ingress.
It's booked in to its home dealer next Thursday.

Thanks for responding, Chris.

Do please keep us posted. Genuinely curious as to the cause of this one.

it did sound like the impact of corrosion on the bulb contacts from water ingress (have had this happen on many cars over the years), but like you say, no obvious signs, so am as puzzled as you.

suppose it could just be a wiring fault, but unusual as it's not exactly a moving part.

Snapped wires are not exactly unknown on Škodas! :dull:

So the bulb holder's faulty and will be replaced on Tuesday under warranty.
The MFD was complaining of the NSR fog lamp not working. It shouldn't be working! There should be only a OSR fog lamp (though I'll bet it's only a bit in a CU somewhere - the NSR bulb is a twin filament jobbie).  In fact, the NSF fog lamp had become unplugged, of which the MFD wotted not... Confusion all round.

All fitted under warranty. All bulbs shiny again (though no NSR fog light, of course).
