Changing central locking programming and tailgate gripe

Featured Replies

I'd like the fob to open all the doors with single button push on my 2006 Elegance estate (as per my 2001 comfort Mpi). Presently just the drivers door unlocks unless you push the button twice. Owners manual says it's a dealer plug up/program, is that the case?

Related to this I take the opportunity the moan about the lack of manual opening of the tailgate along with a lack of a tailgate button push anywhere. My last estate had the opening lever beside the fuel cap lever.

Changing the present set up would at least mean that if I'm outside the car without the key to hand (only drivers door open- this is common for me) the tailgate would be ready to open. I am aware the key can open the tailgate but you don't always have it to hand.

Seems crazy the newer top of the range car doesn't have a manual release for the tailgate which from experience WAS useful!

I managed the one press all doors unlocked thing on my Polo with VCDS Lite and instructions on here, or somewhere else fairly easily found online.

Honestly can't remember whether that was before or after I registered the software for the $99 fee.

Apologies for my ignorance on it (I see relevant section above), but what do I need to get/do?

Thanks

If it can be done in VCDS Lite (personally I don't know) you need to download VCDS Lite 1.2 to a laptop...

Then you need an appropriate cable to go from laptop to car diagnostic socket...

To make the cable work you have to configure a COM port on the laptop as it says at the bottom of this page (it's easier than it sounds)...

The car's diagnostic socket is behind the cubby on the drivers' side. Just pull the lid right down past its stop.

Many thanks for the above Lee

Do you think the cable you posted a link to above is the same as the one you would need to do a DIY remap? On the blacksmoke website it says to get cables from here https://amtcartech.com/shop/ but I don't see any cables! I am tempted just to go to them for the remap software, it looks straightforward enough. Only thing is I haven't managed to contact them by phone. I'll email them today though.

The cable for the locking change is a VCDS/Vagcom one, the cable for the map upload is an MPPS (preferred option per Blacksmoke website) or Galletto one so you need 2 totally different cable even though they both plug into the same port in your car.

The amtcartech link does show cables, but at a price as these are original, not pirated copies off E@#y. Same with the Gendan site on pricing.
