A prodigal return to the Skoda fold

It's been a while since I registered here....

It's been a while since I started my Felly...I laid it up in June 2014 and I hadn't touched it until last night...it was looking tired and unloved (awwww....)

Anyway 3 hours of graft later....

And what's more, after 3 years I charged the battery with an optimate charger, connected it up and she started instantly; as if she'd been running daily!   I love these 1.3 lumps, they forgive so much! :D

Okay, there's an overheating issue but those thermostats standing 3 years?  Hopefully a simple fix

That doesn't look half bad for just 3 hours work mate

Hello welcome along to the Skoda forum What a recovery take the day of after you fixed the thermostat .:)

Well done, I love seeing those older models being kept alive!

"Older models"
I still consider the felly thoroughly modern

But then this one was my first love. And my first head gasket swap...

Thermostat in.  Plus new radiator as that was crumbling - £26 new delivered.
I'm remembering why I like these cars - so easy to fix...

Like the blower motor...
Easy to remove.  £53 for a new one or just rip a spring out of a ball point pen and the brushes are making contact againblow.thumb.jpg.7b93c943cb234ebfa97353c0243d0838.jpg

That can go back in tomorrow...

Next jobs:

Fix the horn
Oil & Filter change
Air filter
Check out suspect rear brake cylinder
4 tyres

Then it'll be ready for MOT'ing where I expect
A patch welding around one rear arch
Gearbox mount looks suspect, expect to fail on that
And the other usual stuff that seems to make an MOT cost £200 on average
