What Is Laurin and Klement

Interesting about the L&K 'goodies'. I'm glad to hear that the space saver, isn't. I had a very bad experience with a 'real' space saver years ago in France when it destroyed itself on the way to a garage to have a puncture repaired.

It's quite strange how Skoda keeps fiddling with the specs; the dealer wasn't really clear as to what is fitted!

There is now only one factory fitted extra specifically for the L&K - front parking sensors, although other general options such as sun roof and sat nav can presumably be fitted.

This is from the brochure dated 1st July - 30th September. It will all probably change again after 30th September!

The stereo/climatronic surround does not feature the piano black decor but plain black plastic which IMO is rubbish.

Yeah, I thought that too. I'm planning, at some point in the not to near future, when I have time, to make up an insert and spray it gloss black. There is a recessed profile all arounf the facia, that is begging to be filled.

Ditch the L&K gear kn()b from the list, it comes with a standard chrome one.

The latest L&K doesn't have dimming mirrors either, just blue tinted ones, they dropped them when they tinkered with the spec. the passenger mirror does however drop down in reverse so you can see your wheels when kerbing them

The wheel isn't a space saver as such, not like the bicycle tyres you get on some cars these days, it is in fact a 205/55/R16 steel spare, it's this size because 205 is the widest the spare wheel well can accommodate. Still smaller but not what I class as a space saver.

I ordered my company car in April with sunset privacy glass to ensure a factory order so I didn't get an earlier version of the L&K with less goodies on it

Having contacted customer services re the gear kn0b & the floor mats they SHOULD all be L&K badged and that they will order them for me.:finger:

Will let you know if in deed this happens.

Gosh, old thread. The Skoda Museum has a very informative film to watch regarding the beginnings of Skoda through L&K. I actually have some video of it at home - I'll try and get the snippets about the beginnings and host it somewhere.

You don't get an external badge - just nice stainless inserts on the internal door sils.

My L&K has an external badge :). It is a horrible plastic thing that has accurately been described as looking like a cake decoration:( .

Should fit nicely on the new fabia then:rofl:

yup, mine never came with one either but ive seen one in the showroom and indeed it should be on and Asda birthday cake! I ordered one of the small L&K badges off the new version and stuck that on the back instead.

My L&K has badges on both front wings, normally where the indicator repeaters would be on other cars. The gearknob just says DSG and no L&K badges, and the mats are just plain black - should they be badged L&K?

Re the stereo surround, I have a silver surround at present which I ordered when I bought the MFD2. doesn't look bad IMO and is miles better than the plain black plastic that is fitted as standard. I might go down the route of making my own gloss back trim in the future.

Wondering if anyone has tried this out as of yet , and if yes how did it turn out and maybe a "how to" guide of sorts ;)
