Parasitic battery drain throgh front windows

Featured Replies

Hi there

New to the forum but wondering if anyone has experienced the problems we are having with our 1.2HTP Ambiente.

For some time now the windows have not worked. Along with this, the battery has gone flat if left for a couple of days.

Tonight I was out having a prod around and with my ammeter connected in series and pulling fuses have deduced that the majority of the parasitic load was going through the two window fuses.(down from 15ma to 3ma if I am reading my meter right.

I have removed these two 25Amp fuses and now have some confidence that we can leave it without the battery going flat but am left with the problem of what is going on with the electric windows.

Anyone had any similar problems or have any suggestions as to what is going on?

Many thanks in advance.

Alec

I'd be interested to see what the outcome is now that you have removed these two fuses as 15ma is not a huge parasitic drain.

Hiya

Might be me reading the meter but with the window fuses in it was 15, and with the fuses out it came down to 3.

That's a tiny drain, I suspect your battery has had it. The alarm/immobiliser drains far more than 15mA, a healthy battery would handle it no problem for at least 3 months or more.

I'm also a bit dubious about the 15mA.

How old is the battery?
