Fuel consumption

Featured Replies

Why has the fuel consumption on my SE dropped 10mpg overnight?

Is it because the weather has been in the high 20's for the past few days?

How is your air filter?

Possibly. The air filter isn't great but wouldn't have accounted for an overnight drop of 10 mpg. Gonna stick in a K&N element to replace the cone in box effort it has at the moment. The only thing could be the weather or a sensor fault somewhere. Weird!

Cheers.

Checked for brake binding? Guess it's not so likely but easy to check

The K&N is a terrible idea, they don't filter anywhere near as well as the standard paper element and add nothing to performance. Don't bother, stick with paper. Check the fuel temperature sensor isn't playing up.

Agree could be the fuel temperature sensor wherever the hell that is.

Totally disagree about the K&N. I have used these for years and in many Skodas. They are excellent and flow much more air than a crappy paper POS!

Fit and forget and cheaper in the long-term.

Good luck with it then, it's your turbo that's getting shot blasted, not mine, extra airflow means nothing on a turbodiesel.

K&N fit and forget and drive in dusty / wet / moist conditions, then as they get clogged and strangle the performance and increase the fuel consumption you clean them and dress them correctly and then start again.

Many of us have used them for decades for the right application which is not usually just on the road where there is more noise than actual performance increase.

Not a Free Flowing filter other than when clean.

Paper filters can disintegrate at the slightest H20, but then do not take your road car wading.
