Is this right?

Featured Replies

I've seen a business locally offering remaps, and EGR maps.

I spoke to the guy and he says that he can map out the EGR without the need of replacing/removing or blanking parts?

Is this true?!

Thanks

Nick

Yeh, they alter the mapping so it stays closed.

And this works perfectly? Without the need for cleaning or blanking the EGR with zero codes etc?

You may be able to achieve exactly the same effect by pulling off (and plugging) the vac hose going to the big metal-covered diaphragm on top of the EGR.  Not sure whether this would result in fault codes/lights, but there's an easy way to find out (try it).

Can anyone else shed some light on this?

Pulling the vac hose and plugging it will result in a eml. Did the same on my old asz.

It is true, but why would you want to? Diesels are filthy enough without buggering about with the emissions control gear for no good reason.

Thanks for your replies chaps. So is this worth doing or not?

Just Map?

Just clean?

Complete removal and blank?

or just leave it alone? Confusing.

Remap it for moar POWAH!

Clean up the EGR system and leave it alone, it reduces EGT and helps your turbo and living things live longer.

Thats what I wanted to hear. I was all set to clean it then it threw me off when I saw someone saying it could be 'mapped out' - I'll clean it. Thanks buddy
