Columbus with 10ch amplifier - 3 big questions about it

Featured Replies

So, it seems that I have the Columbus with the 10ch amplifier under the drivers seat (LHD) and my question is, is it possible to change head unit or will that not work? Mainly thinking abot those chinese android units.

Does anybody know the wattage output for that amplifier?

And how do I connect let's say a 2-way aftermarket speaker kit to the front that has 3-way original?

It is not 10 channel. Power output nominated to 4*10W.

I think I read somewhere, that the factory amp is not compatible with third party units, but not sure about it.

Speakers have always two connections, no matter 2 way or 3 way.

I find the Skoda Sound System to be pretty good. Better, than my previous Mondeo`s 275W sound system. So I cannot really figure out, why you want to change it.

Well, each speaker is a channel so yes, its 10ch.

Anyhow, I want to change them for something that gives more clarity and almost anything is better than stock.

No, each speaker is not a channel.

Driver`s door`s 3 speaker = 1st channel

Passanger`s door`s 3 speakers = 2nd channel.

And rear doors also 1 channel per each door.

If it was 10 channel amp, the tech spec would say 10*xxx watts.

So why does it even say 10ch on the amp then?

And no. It's a 10ch amp because the amp does the crossover for all connected speakers, tweeters, mids and subs.

On an ordinary amplifier theres either 2 or 4 or 5 channel but this one is kinda different.

You might be right.

One is clear - one of them is lying: either Skoda or Panasonic :)

One claims 4 channels, another 10 channels.
