KESSY door system no longer working!

Featured Replies

The car is 19 months old now and the electronics continue to misbehave - another reason I won't be keeping it - and today all of the door touch lock/unlock has failed.  I can still lock/unlock from the fob though.

No 'low key fob battery' warning, but could this in fact be a cause?

I'm getting a little tired of going back and forth to a Dealer only for them to pass it to Škoda Technical who don't seem to anything other than suggest a load of modules to change!

Methinks cars are rapidly getting beyond the ability of either local Dealers or in-country support to resolve issues.  The virtual pedal issue is still to be fixed - and that has them stumped too!

I had something similar on a Seat Toledo with KESSY (Same System). Could not open the door by touching the handle but the remote control opened the door from the key fob. Car would not start but by adopting the emergency procedure ( placing the key fob in close proximity to the start button) I managed to get it going. It was the battery that was the problem. Probably a daft question but have you tried the spare key fob?

When HRH brings the key back then I'll give it a go.  It was on my list to try.....

Update:  Spare key is fine so it looks like I need to get whatever type of battery it uses.

Spare key now home!

Hi FelisB. I remember that yours is an early model combi as was my 150TDI. I had problems with the KESSY on that vehicle; it never stopped working per se but it was always temperamental.

So I thought you might be interested to know that on my current MY17 hatch the KESSY system is completely different. It is more sensitive to touch, has worked from both sides without one failure or missed signal. The virtual pedal works every time without fail; I just put my foot under the rear bumper and hey presto-open sesame every time.

I wonder whether they have revised/upgraded components or software since those early 2015 vehicles??

And to update this, the answer is that the key battery (CR2032) was indeed the cause of the locking unlocking issue.  So if your S3 with KESSY stops behaving then suspect a dying battery even if there are no warnings from the car itself.  Pushing the buttons worked fine, just not the 'touch' mode.

Sadly the Virtual Pedal is still the subject of a 'down gripe'.

Thanks to RobbyD for pointing me in the right direction.

And yes mine is an early one - (Oct 2015) - in a lovely shade of red......B)
