MK2 VRS Octavia throttle 'blip'

Featured Replies

Hi, I wish to draw on your collective expertise! I went for a test drive in a lovely MK2 VRS recently & I've been mulling it over. Slick gear change, quiet powerful engine that pulls all the way through the range, FSH etc. Fine example -  plenty of research (and test driving) done. The clutch was biting a little lower than I expected (never driven one before so, who knows) & the garage has said they will look into this for me but the main issue I had was that the throttle seemed to 'blip' itself on up changes - is this just my right foot being terrible with a pedal I'm not used to or a deeper issue? I feel like I took my foot off entirely & still couldn't shake a little surge of revs / acceleration for a second or so just after the whoosh when the clutch is depressed. When idle it's fine - is it me or is it a sensor or something? I would love to know as this car is a very well cared for example & google has given me nothing!

I had mine for 7 years, never happened. It must be :D you, take your foot of the pedal between changes.

Butbutbut!.... I got nothing. The pedal! It's not like the previous 23 cars I've owned!

Gonna be some real funny looks when I go back to that garage tomorrow. Especially because when I realised also that the clutch is hydraulic - bite point not a problem. Doh. Probably my paranoia flaring up - I have bought some right ****ters before.

Update! It's not me being stupid; if I can pick your brains please, whenever the wastegate is dumping air (under hard acceleration) it blips the throttle. Doesn't happen on lower boost just when it 'dumps' it revs slightly.

Have tested this to death (including with other people) & it sounds like I'm not changing gear smoothly but I actually am! It's fine at idle, no hesitation on acceleration no probs whatsoever apart from this odd little burst of revs when it dumps.

Any ideas?
