Crack in boot?

Recommended Posts

Hello, and thanks for letting me join the forum.

I have just bought a Rapid 1.2 connect (14 plate). Some how when I checked it over I missed some cracking on a plate (looks like a recessed figure eight) in the left hand side of the boot. From under the car all looks original and ok. Not being a mechanic can someone please tell me if this is ok?

The different coloured patches are sound deadening material which prevents harmonic vibrations from road noise. I suspect the crack is because it was applied too thinly and it didn't want to stretch. The sound deadening material is not structural and shouldn't cause you too much problems.

That's reasuring, thank you. Got the Rapid to replace an ageing cmax. We wanted to go a little smaller and more economical but needed boot space. The Rapid was the only car I felt fitted the bill. Can't understand why you don't see more of them really?
