Taking the rear drums off?

Featured Replies

The brakes on my son's Fabia 1.2 (55,000 miles) are squeaking slightly. Do you just undo the wheel nuts and pull the drum off to examine the linings?

Take the wheels off.

Undo the retaining screw (large phillips)

Try pulling the drum off. If this doesnt work through one of the bolt holes look for the wedge that auto adjusts the clearance of the shoes and flick up up. The drum will now slide off.

When refitting lever the shoes out a bit at a time and trial fit the drum, when you can just hear the shoes catching the drum they are adjusted correctly.

Ta, sounds the same technique as on the wife's old Polo

In fact exactly the same.
