Aircon only works for a few seconds

Featured Replies

Just had my aircon regassed, worked fine for a few seconds then stopped.

Garage said most likely the compressor is shot and needs replacing, it may work for a bit at higher revs but recommend replacing.

The aircon blasts cold air for a few seconds then gives up, wondering if there is any possibility the electrics are actually to blame and not giving the clutch enough juice to stay engaged?

Guessing it is worth checking at least?

@Metalligator  Garage is guessing; VCDS or an air con specialist is required.

Forgot to say, before regassing have had it on VCDS with no errors, will check again

Bumping this, as I just got mine regassed and it's a bit naff...

Starting engine with a/c either on or off, it does nothing. Switching over to ECON for a couple of minutes and then back, suddenly I get cold air blasting out... but then it dwindles off again before the cabin gets cool.

Have had the compressor clutch checked and everything seems fine at that end.

Will be getting VCDS/Ross-Tech onto it this weekend, hopefully... Anything I should be looking for, or just general fault reports?

OK, my mechanical chap got it on VCDS... no faults. He also reset everything, ran it through the processes on the laptop, etc and found nothing coming back faulty.

The problem persists, however.

What might be up? Dodgy sensor, perhaps?
