Hi Guys,

 

I under took the challenge to install a RLS in my Mk2 FL Octavia VRS and stuck at find the correct wire for the RLS?

 

According to this DIY http://www.myturbodiesel.com/wiki/rain-light-sensor-retrofit-and-installation-vw-diy/ it says Plug F / Pin 3 but the octavia has 3 BCM plugs Black | White | Gold as shown below

 

 

I came across this persons thread on Vortex and he mentioned the LIN Bus wire is at location White Plug > Ping 33 (Purple/ White)

 

However on inspection at Pin 33 i only found a Purple white. So I tappend into it and connected all the neccessary wires. On activation of RLS I am getting no signal from the Rain sensor? Also no option in Cent Elect also for RLS? I noticed the same wire at Pin 35 which was Purple White and tapped into it but still no luck? :( 

 

Any body know the wiring diagram of octavia and perhaps help me locate the correct wire please????

Got a full autoscan?

 

It should be pin 33 on the white connector, it's also used to communicate with the wiper motor.

Also the sensor in question is 1K0 955 559 AH

Ok Gone and checked the wiring again and everything looks fine so Pin 1 - Switched Fuse (Fuse 17) , Pin 2 - Ground and Pin 3 - CECM  White plug Pin 33 

 

Dont know where am going wrong?

Ok finally got it working. So went back into the White plug and retapped the wire into pin 33 and making sure it was soldiered fine. Reconnected everything back and Cent Elect was showing the RLS in the dropdown. Went into the measuring window and block 015 and could see the RLS showing up but the values are 0.0 across the range. I didnt get much time to fiddle with the settings but do I need to set the auto wipers etc? I dont have the auto switch installed as yet but I was assuming by covering the sensor I would get somewhat reading in the sensor?

Well just to keep things updated.

 

Finally finished the install and it works brilliantly. Rain closing and auto windscreen wipe etc. Just need to add a switch to add the auto lights. All readings are coming in fine in VCDS. 

 

While I was using testing the rain closing the following error was logged in VCDS

From Ross tech seems  like a low voltage / faulty battery http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/00907

 

May be the battery was low on juice while I was finishing off the install and using the rain closing may have further drained the battery. I will drive around and see if the error goes.
