4x4 Estate Clutch Kit Advice

Featured Replies

Any help appreciated.

My 2010 4x4 170 Elegance estate needs a new clutch as of today.

Clutch pedal is only biting right at bottom, sticking down  & hard to get in gear

What is the best brand to go for please? And what sort of money are we talking ballpark?

Just to give you an idea, I had a clutch and dmf changed on old Octavia and it cost £900 in 2012. I believe silver1011 had one done recently for £1200ish.

But they were 2wd vehicles.

Make sure you have the dmf done at the same time.

Also:-

  1. Replace the concentric slave cylinder whilst you are at it - they do fail and are also a gearbox off job
  2. I'd avoid a Sachs cover plate as they can fail in  bad way - machining through the gearbox case!

If 1) has failed you'll have brakefluid dripping

If 2) has failed you'll have gearbox oil dripping

Mine was £600 for an LUK clutch and DMF, 2WD though without the slave cylinder.

The drive shafts on a 4x4 will likely add another hour or so to the labour rate?
