I've took delivery of a new Octavia. Very happy with it.

Road noise is a little more than my Rapid and when braking there is a distinct purring noise.

I had this on a Toyota Yaris and was told this is a charactor of the car.

I've only done 128 miles. do you think this will settle once brakes bedded in? and what about road noise.

This is a petrol model 1.4 DSG

 

 

 

I doubt the road noise will get any better unless you add more deadening, but i might be wrong.  Can't comment on the brake noise. Congrats on your purchase though. 

My brakes still make an obvious hissing noise at close to 20,000 miles. Doesn't worry me. How else would I know the brakes were working?

What make and size tyres are fitted to your Octavia?

The lack of sound deadening on this car means that some tyre makes/models are far worse than others.

Have you been and checked and set the cars tyre pressures and the TPMS yet?

Let us know what they were set at to hand the car over to you.

 

Then the car needs Running / Driving in, New Tyres, Brakes, Suspension, new everything.
