Advice on best engine to have?

Featured Replies

Issue is now that instead of going down the way of having VW Group checking out the Yeti & addressing the fault because it had been in for The Fix you had it remapped,

that might just come back to bite you in the bum.

It was under warranty, and Arnold Clark were taking it to Skoda which is opposite them more or less. ( we have 20 dealerships on 1 road ) . However i called Arnold clark Skoda and they did not see the car.

Arnold Clark motor store said it was an intercooler pipe off and they just fixed it there. However i saw the paperwork on his desk briefly and it was not a boost issue.  Egr / ecu malfunction was error.

As for map, well Its out of warranty in next few week anyway. It was just a used car warranty we got with it. The map at least over wrote the VW fix software. And on the whole it runs a different car.  Its not a performance map. Just an economy map.

The wife seems to think today its running a lot smoother and feels much quicker...... Just maybe there was a boost issue..... Scratching my head.

Time will tell though and map or no map if it plays up again it will cost us money.

Mean time,  i still love this car... Up our lanes etc.    What a smile i get.

Not trying to pee on your parade, but no matter what Warranty you had no matter how short you had cover, then the rights from a used car purchase from a Dealership,

in this case a Scottish Licensed Used Car Dealer, then you have the VW Group assurance / confidence giver on the 2 years post FIX / T&C's apply.

I would delete this thread and any Remap mentioning, but then that is just because i know AC employees and others from Skoda UK read some if not all of these threads and posts.

I know what you are saying about AC,  When out company was bought by them it was rather eye opening. They told us they had a dedicated team that pursue negative feedback etc.

Anyway, thanks again for the valuable advice.    I am just happy the fix is removed for now and cannot do more damage.  Rock and hard place..

Car still in limp mode so I was correct, it was not the boost pipe.

Tbc

Sounds like EGR issues, I would see if you can get the map removed until you manage fix the problem as you should be covered by the cheat software update as any turbo / EGR related will be expensive.

Question was "what is the best engine to have" answer.   Not a VAG

The fault is prior to the economy remap, but it has crossed my mind to remove it.  Will see how it go's next week when it gets a scan tomorrow at Skoda.

I know that but you don't want Skoda to wash their hands of any issues caused by the emissions fix issues due a remap as they will think of anything to avoid paying out for replacement parts.

Unwittingly I thought the avenue I took would A, not trouble the dealer, B, give better economy, C remove any issues that were were caused by dieselgate fix and give peace of mind Dpf and Egr would be okay. But same fault is still showing and I agree with you that it could give an excuse to wash hands of it......  If they do it will be a painful lesson for myself, however upon mapping the car it had thrown limp once and that was it, just a hiccup.  But same fault still popping up that now I wonder could be a very expensive fix.

The map was expensive and I believe even if removed will show up.  I won't know until end of day tomorrow the result of what they find......  But bottom line is i could pay for wanting a bit more fuel economy with a map. Even more scary is the fault triggered before the remap several times and straight after buying it has now been erased by dealer but "not" fixed so will not show on Skoda scan.

If they do go down the route of accusing us of causing fault even though it was dated prior to remap then ( and erased ) then it is as bad luck on my part and leaves us without a reliable vehicle as we threw every penny into it and cannot afford a dime on fixing it.  Tough luck

friday last sat thing appointment made as a "favour" to us, so will find out tomorrow.  No time to remove a map and to be honest I know that's not the fault so will not hide it.    All I wanted was an extra 10% fuel economy,  and that fix away as car was awfully strangled.

tbc but I might add I appreciate the support from members here.

sentencing is tomorrow
