Skoda Octavia PD170

Featured Replies

I currently own a Fabia VRS PD130.

Im looking to buy an Octavia PD170 because I now have a young child.

Is there anything I should look out for when going to view one?

Thanks

J

Quite a few Octavia PD 170 Vrs's had the DPF canister gutted to remove the DPF as it caused no end of problems. The ECU was then remapped/sensors turned off to make the ECU think there wasn't a DPF fitted. There has been talk that this removal could result in a MOT failure at a later date.

Perhaps ask some questions about the DPF when buying one.

Some folk had the canister gutted and refitted minus the filter so on a visual look, it looked like the DPF was still there. some had the canister removed  and a straight pipe fitted. DPF's are quite exspencive to replace.

Thank you bud.

I was going to try and get one with a DPF delete just to be on the safe side. Don't want endless problems with it as I've heard some right stories.

The PD170 were as mentioned above riddled with DPF issues. Few of mates had PD170 Leon FR's and all ended up getting the DPF removed and mapped. All have been running fine.

If you can't find one with deleted DPF simple find a good example VRS and consider it in your budget to be done right after the purchase.

Okay mate. Thank you for the advise.

I have a PD170 vRS.

Buy a CR engined one instead, if you can stretch to it.

I had a PD170 and the DPF basically strangled it to death.

Either get one with a proper DPF delete or save up a big longer for a CR170 (2008/9).
