Anti-blinding mirror behavior...

Featured Replies

Did it occur to you that the antiblinding reverse mirror mechanism does not work for LED headlamps?

At first i thought there's a perception but after a while i started to pay attention and it doesn't change color (to dark green) when a car with LED headlamps is behind me.

All other (halogen & xenon) are "recognized" and mirror color gets darker...

Could it be that the LEDs are way better calibrated than Xenons? Or maybe some of them have the optional "smart" mechanism of individually controlling LED lamps to cut-off the car in front (in this case me)...Audi Matrix LED or Mercedes LED ILS are examples...

Just a thought. But i can (almost) swear that LED headlights behind me do blind me more than the rest and the mirror glass does not darken

My mirrors ( rear view and door) darken when the lights turn on. is anti blinding something new?

Never noticed this before on either of old MKIIs.  Once the mirrors darken, it works for all light sources.

I think the OP means the same thing.  By darkening or tinting, the mirrors become anti-dazzle.
