Looking for a Yeti

Featured Replies

Evening all

My name isn't Howard and I'm not from Bury, but I've borrowed the name of the guy who led the 1921 Everest expedition to try and find the Yeti,   Charles Howard-Bury

I've been doing my homework on the site over the past week or so and almost pulled the trigger on a 64 plate with the 170 engine, but pulled out when I learned that it had undergone "the fix". The salesman couldn't believe it, but I've read enough on here to make me think it wasn't worth the risk. I had a 59 plate Octavia 1.6 tdi previously and had trouble with the egr/dpf, so I'm keen to avoid problems if at all possible. I also previously had a lovely red 1998 Octavia estate with the 110 engine, which was the fast model compared to the 90, so I guess it's a sign of how much more powerful the cars have become in the past 20 years or so.

I'm now wondering whether I have to bite the bullet and spend extra to get a 150ps Euro 6 model, or are there still decent unfixed Euro 5s around?

Thanks, Peter

Hello Howard welcome to the Skoda forum you made the right choice to pull out of the deal there are plenty out there so don't rush the right one will turn up with out the fix.:)

Thanks Jed

I have a fond hope that the very helpful sales guy might get in touch to say they have rolled back the fix and everything is fine now, but I guess that's not a realistic outcome?

He will not do the not aloud  drop your offer and  get  a map done after you get or look for another .

I guess if I was a salesman then I might be a bit confused when a buyer rejected a really nice car. The Skoda 24 month goodwill gesture on the fix is being punted as a warranty when it is nothing of the kind, and I "shouldn't believe all I read on the internet". Right.
