I'm Back...kind of...

Featured Replies

So bought this yesterday for my daughter.  She liked driving my old mk1 vrs, and she wanted one herself, however, having just passed her test in January, and this being her first car, she has a pd100 Elegance with a few awful(to me, probs cause I am old) mods which will be removed as soon as is cost effective!  My other half is convinced I bought it for myself...as if I would do such a thing.  I bought it so I could get my Elemontevrs back!

So what are the mods that you want to reverse, recognise the wheels but can't place them, looks lowered, and exhaust obviously not original. Mileage appears low at about 100K for a Fabia diesel of that age based on data on https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history.

I think it has an induction kit of terror coupled with a straight through exhaust system of horror.

Aye its at 105K, and the exhaust needs to go really, its a turbo back straight through and I don't like the sound of it, sounds unhealthy/wheezy to me, and the s2000 or whatever cone filter is going back to a panel filter.  The suspension is lowering springs on standard shocks, so that will change at some point, although not urgent.  Wheels are alright, no centre caps, tyres are crap, but I have a few 16" tyres kicking about in the garage, that are decent, think I might have a full set now that I think about it.

She is going to use it for the next two weeks, then it will come back up and get serviced, maybe upgrade the front brakes if I can cheap hubs, a new MOT as it runs out in November and she won't be up here when it runs out.

Runs well, wee puff of black smoke on start up, but otherwise runs well, and gets excellent MPG.

A little bit of smoke is to be expected with no cat / silencers in the system. Looks a nice little car to me, better than that civic eh ;)

Have decided to get a used vRS one and fit it, as there is already a hole cut in the rear valance anyway.  Plus its cheaper than a new pd100 one.  Thought about getting a pd100 one from the turbo out then fitting a stainless back box, but its just money for nothing really.  Right now all she needs is reliable and torquey for dukeing about on and off the A1M.

Insurance may frown on mods. I'm thinking about the brakes. Unless she's a rally star she won't need the brakes hard more than once at a time.

Full exhaust including cat is an idea.... Backpressure helps keep turbo speed down. Also does real work controlling CO emissions.

Aye that's the reason its going back to standard, but brakes are generally not an issue, f I can't get her hubs I will just get he better pads and disks and brake fluid.
