I do hope that they state that tourists are required to have winter tyres etc...as I don't want to get stuck behind more southern idiots who have got stuck/having a panic attack at 20mph in a 60 zone as all the traction lights are disco dancing on the dash...…& that's in their 4x4 SUV....

For those that maybe use or are planning to get to Ballater via the Cairn O' Mount,  Fettercairn to Banchory road, it is closed for 4 weeks due to a HGV taking part of a bridge out.

Total PITA,  As were the many winter closures last winter and Traffic Scotland not bothering to be current, or even interested.

Trunk Roads all really that interest them.  Not routes that are important to rural communities and businesses but not classed as Trunk Roads.

When undamaged.

The only snow today was on the high tops in the Cairngorms and nothing on the Snow Road routes.

Not even much traffic.

If driving an EV doing the NE-250 or just in the Area of Banff or Macduff then Rapid Charging in Banff is very much the luck of the draw if working or available when you need to charge, as is Macduff. So be aware and check before you arrive or count on getting charged.  There is more slow charging available around and about.

Autocar

have an article taking a Porsche Taycan around the NE250, or parts of it.

(Charge place Scotland does have an App capable of unlocking chargers at some locations, and you can phone the number on the chargers,

The CYC App,  'Charge Your Car'.

that is a lottery how long before you get an answer if you do, and that is if you get reception on your phone.)

Doing it in an Enyaq will be interesting and maybe charging in Perth or Blairgowrie if starting on the A93, and maybe not needing to charge again until Brechin or Forfar.

Worth doing the route from Aberdeen or Stonehaven to Banchory or Aboyne and then over the Cairn O' Mouth (Mount) to Fettercairn then Edzell & back to the A90.

Be aware if heading to the A93 that the bridge at Bridge of Cally has been damaged and is closed so diversions in place for Blairgowrie to Glenshee.

If you are going to be driving the A93 or the Glenshee & Deeside area this weekend be aware this will not be a great time for it.

Unless you want to see the cycle race.

Saturday is the Braemar Gathering.

Sunday will have road closures are various times and places.

The Tour of Britain Cycling 2022 Live TV coverage from the start in Aberdeen was not available because of the rain.

It is now on ITV 4 as they approach Ballater, then it is to Braemar to finish at Glenshee.

Hopefully they will be able to broadcast  pictures from the Helicopter from Braemar to Glenshee Ski Centre.

The Gairnshiel route (bridge) is still closed just now for a new bridge and road realignment at either end.

So the diversion from the A93 is at Dinnet or by Tarland to the A944 if you would normally be going on the A939.  You get there quicker  if doing legal speeds  with the diversion anyway. Just not quite such a perfect 'drivers road.'

Hopefully no tourists in motorhomes see this thread... it can't get much worse up there.
