Smashed wing mirror glass

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get some glass for my wing mirror?

Do I need a whole new replacement or can I just replace the glass?

Things for my car seem to be adding up this month!!

eBay is usually a good source.

Is it just the glass that has smashed? Yes the glass is easily replaceable.

There are a lot of pattern parts that are as good as genuine Skoda parts.

Is your Octavia a pre-facelift or facelift as they have different mirrors?

Almost all MkII's got heated mirrors so make sure you get one with the heating elements.

Which side? Does it have the blind spot line on?

They are only about £10 in eBay delivered I think. For heated too. Cheap really.

From experience, don't get the cheapest you find.

Try to find an add with real pictures - remove your current mirror and compare the plastics on the back with the picture.

The glass has some metal clips that are fitted into the plastic backside. If these holes where the clips go, are badly placed or incorrectly shaped, you won't be able to place these metal clips.

Don't know what exactly will happen if you don't use them but they are there for a reason... I had to punch a larger hole for one of the metal sheets to fit in and loosely place the other as the plastic did not allow it to clip on and sit flush.. :(

Not the end of the world but it would be nice to compare the one you are buying with the one that's on the car (supposedly genuine part).

There is plenty of tat on eBay, cheapest is often not the best in this instance.
