Rear wiper problems

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any issues with rear wiper? Mine is stuck midway across the window, prior to that it was working intermittently. Rear washer doesn't appear working either, certainly no screen wash coming out when I try.

Thanks in advance

Rear washer is a bit of a known weak point. Skoda blamed me using anything other than special washer fluid for fan jets when they declined to replace mine under warranty.

My rear jet was blocked just after 3 years old. Wouldn't sort it under warranty but only paid a fiver for a replacement one from the dealer.

If the wiper itself doesn't move then it could be the motor. VAGs from the MK5 Golf/A3 8p era were notorious for having Cr*p rear wiper motors that died. I see plenty of the above cars still driving round with a rear wiper stuck halfway across the screen in the 12 o clock position. Haven't noticed it on our gen VAGs (MK7 Golf etc.) but guess a dead motor isn't entirely unreasonable.

Mines a 63 plate, I thinks the wiper arm is still working intermittently.

Whats the part required for the rear washer itself if it's blocked?

Not sure on the exact part number, but if you pop the end cap up by the wiper base, you should see the nozzle which looks like this. Has part number on the side.

If you take the above nozzle off and spray your rear jet and you get a fountain like water projection, it will confirm it's your nozzle that's blocked.

If it doesn't jet straight up with no nozzle then it's likely something else.

I found a pin too big in diameter to fit into the rear jet when mine got blocked up a few weeks back.

I used an old toothbrush and worked one or two of the fibers into the jet hole, unblocked it after a few insertions.

Does anyone know the best place to source a replacement rear wiper motor?

So, cleaned the jets out today and lo and behold the rear wiper motor kicked into gear and started working again. Only for a bit tho and wiper arm stopped at 10 o clock position and now not responding. Faint hopes initially that I didn't need a new motor and now not so sure
