head rest

Featured Replies

I have just got myself a superb estate 1.6 S on a 16 reg I would like to put seat covers on the problem being I cannot take out the head rests out all other the estates I had in the past to take the rests you press the press the little button under the rest it lifts all the way out  but I cannot do this on the Skoda superb the rest goes up then no more is any other way of taking them  I do not what to force until I know its the right thing to do

Poke the key into the base of the leg without the button to release the headrests. Works for the back seats at least.

The key works in the rear but there is also a wire tool in the boot that is designed for the job. Works just as well in the Superb as it did in the Leon.

But in all recent cars we have owned the front headrests are not removable. They are part of the passive seat safety system and parts of the system fixed to the headrests prevent them from coming all the way out.

If you do fit seat covers ensure they are compatible with the airbags. In the past there are been issues where after a crash and airbag deployment the seat covers have ignited which would not be a great feature if you were trapped in the car.

Personally when i buy a car i like to see and use the seats I have paid good money for rather than keeping then pristine for the next owner. A good vacuum ecery few monts is all they need.

thanks for the advice its mainly the back seats head rest problem I was after as I have 2 fawn coloured dogs at home and already picking light coloured hair off my pride and joy rear seats and i have not had the dogs in the car yet and I am also looking at a boot liner cover when they do get in but the cover has straps that the head rest bars have to pass through to keep the cover up against the back of the seat once again thank you for the advice
